A family of YouTube stars premiered their version of the Christmas classic “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” this week and replaced the original’s purportedly misogynistic lyrics with feminist-friendly language.
The Holderness Family, viral video stars with millions of followers on social media, shared their remake of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” to YouTube on Monday.
As of publication, the video has a whopping 50 million views on Facebook alone.
In the wake of the #MeToo movement, the original tune has drawn accusations that it promotes misogyny and even rape culture.
While many commenters on social media praised The Holderness Family’s rendition, critics lamented the fact that “Baby, It’s Cold Outside’s” lyrics necessitated such a reaction.
